One of the 12 Journeys · Roots season · walked with Zawadi
Gratitude that isn't pretending.
You've tried the gratitude journal. Three bullet points a night, feeling vaguely fraudulent, quitting by week two. If gratitude practice has ever felt like lying to yourself politely, you weren't doing it wrong — you were taught it wrong.
Real gratitude isn't denying what's hard. It's training the eye to also see what's holding — and that shift, practiced, physically changes what your days feel like. This journey teaches the version that survives contact with a hard life.

You already know this one if…
- Your mind auto-completes to what's missing, broken, or threatened
- Good moments slide off you; bad ones stick and replay
- “It could be worse” has never once helped you feel better
- You want to feel richness in the life you already have — not perform it
What's different on the other side
- Noticing the good becomes reflexive, not homework
- Hard seasons stop erasing everything that's still true and still yours
- The people around you start hearing what they mean to you — out loud
How it's walked
Not a course you watch. A journey you walk.
Zawadi leads this one. Expect practice you do in your real days — at the sink, in traffic, mid-argument — not worksheets about sunsets.
Story, science, practice
Every stage pairs Zawadi's story with the teaching and a practice you do in your real life — not a worksheet about someone else's.
Walked through your challenge
Tell the Tribe what you're carrying and Rimi reframes every stage around it. Your life becomes the curriculum.
Taught back, made yours
You explain each idea in your own words before moving on — because insight you can't say isn't yours yet. A tribe walks beside you the whole way.
Questions
Asked honestly, answered honestly
Why hasn't gratitude journaling worked for me?
Because lists aren't the mechanism — attention is. Writing “family, health, coffee” nightly rehearses a chore. The journey trains the noticing itself, in the moment, in the body, which is where gratitude actually changes anything.
Isn't gratitude toxic positivity?
Forced gratitude is. Real gratitude holds both: this is hard AND this is holding. The journey never asks you to deny the hard part — it widens the frame around it.
