Finding the steps for your phone…
On a different phone?
In Safari. (In Chrome, the Share button is at the right of the address bar.)
- Tap the Share button in Safari's bar at the bottom of the screen. On newer iPhones, tap first, then Share. Don't see the bar? Scroll up a little.
- Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen . Not in the list? Tap Edit Actions at the very bottom and add it.
- Tap Add in the top corner. If you see Open as Web App, leave it on.
- Open the orange Tribe of Giants icon on your home screen and sign in once. That's it.
Questions
Is this the real app?
Yes. It's the same Tribe you use on the website, with your account and everything in it, installed by your phone's own browser. There's nothing to download from an app store, and it keeps itself up to date.
Does it cost anything?
No. Installing is free. Your account and membership are the same ones you use on the website.
How much space does it take?
Very little. It's mostly an icon on your home screen; your phone keeps a small amount of data to open it quickly.
I can't find Add to Home Screen. What now?
You're probably inside another app's browser: a link opened from Instagram, Facebook, Gmail or a text can open there, and those browsers can't install apps. Open this page in Safari (iPhone) or Chrome (Android) and the button will be where the steps say.
Can the app send me reminders?
Yes, if you'd like them. Open the app from your home screen, then turn them on under Account → Notifications. On an iPhone, reminders only work in the app on your home screen, not in a Safari tab.
How do I remove it?
Press and hold the icon on your home screen and remove it like any other app. Your account and everything in it stay safe on the website.
